App Review: Talking Ginger

By: Kerri Hughes, EC-SEAT Scholar

The Talking Ginger app can help to support communication development. Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders or a speech impairment can practice sound imitation or increase vocalizations facilitating their social and communication development. At a young age, children start imitating sounds from adults. Some children need to be taught how to imitate sounds. The Talking Ginger app repeats sounds that the child makes. This can encourage the child to continue to repeat the sound to engage with the cat. The app also includes many other engaging features such as bathing, teeth brushing, and bubble popping.
